How to specify the Default Email Account in Mac Mail
Following up from my earlier article, you may wonder how to specify which email account your message comes from when you hit the “New Message” button. It’s a tad hidden and perhaps a little unintuitive to discover if I may say.
Here’s how to do it:
- open Mac Mail
- head over to Mail – Preferences
- click the Composing tab
- under Addressing, find an option that reads “Send New Messages from…”, together with a drop down menu of your email accounts
Select the one you like, close the window, and write a new email. Now your desired email account is being used by default.
