How to remove the Weather Widget from the Windows 10 Task Bar

- by

In a recent Windows 10 update, something rather unexpected has smuggled itself into my task bar: at the bottom right I see the local temperature, and when I click on it, there’s a whole menu of stuff I’d like to never see again. It’s called the News and Interests widget, a new addition to Windows 10 Version 20H2.

Here’s what it looks like:

Thankfully it’s extremely easy to disable:

  • right-click anywhere on the Task Bar
  • this brings up the Task Bar menu
  • at the top, find the new section called News and interests
  • hover over that until a menu flies out
  • click on Turn off and the widget will be gone

Phew! Now I have to repeat this step on 4 other computers with the same issue. Another internet mystery has been solved! 😎
